Skinny’s is an old school barber shop using traditional methods to give our clients the highest quality cuts. We take pride and dedicate our time to giving the best haircuts in town. Our goal is that you have a good experience every time you visit. Appointments are available but walk-ins are always welcome. So, give us a shot and stick around if you’d like. We’re proud to say that we’re “home grown and operated” with three locations to serve you!

Skinny’s #1
(westgate blvd)

Skinny’s #1 opened its doors in 2015. After working under a master barber for nine years and being mentored by a fellow barber shop owner, John decided to take a leap of faith and open up an old school barber shop of his own.

He landed on the location at Westgate Boulevard because it was a place that he was familiar with, as he spent much of his early childhood in that area. John still remembers skateboarding in the same parking lot where the shop sits. He is humbled and proud to make this the location of his first barber shop. 

Skinny’s #2
(cedar valley @ HWY 290)

One day while cutting hair at Skinny’s #1, John lifted his head and took a good look around the shop on a busy day. The shop was buzzing, the people and barbers were laughing, and enjoying their time in the small barber shop. He asked himself, “Why couldn’t I do this again with another location?”

John then decided to open Skinny’s #2 off of HWY 290 toward Dripping Springs. DS was a place that he was also familiar with and spent a good part of his teenage years. John was also given his nickname, “Skinny”, while attending high school in Dripping Springs. 

Skinny and a fellow barber named Reece opened the doors of this location in 2018. Not long after we opened, we had to bring on some more talented barbers to join our team. We’re grateful to the SW Austin and Dripping Springs communities for accepting us and giving us the opportunity to service them for their barbering needs. 

Skinny’s x kervin’s
(CENTRAL AUSTIN @ IH35)

Kervin's Barber Shop is located in Central Austin and has been in the old Delwood Shopping Center since 1961. Now located two doors down from Fiesta Mart off of IH35 and 38th 1/2 Street. This place is one of the oldest barber shops in town — if these walls could talk! Kervin's is where John “Skinny” Cleaveland got his start.

Kervin and his veteran barbers took a chance on a young barber and helped groom him into the man he is today. Skinny is forever grateful for that and out of respect will keep this shop going under Kervin's name as best he can. There would be no Skinny's Barber Shop without Kervin's Barber Shop. We have barbers from the past as well as some new blood here. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts.
